Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is showcasing the Freightliner EconicSD and Freightliner 114SD at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2018.

“At DTNA, our local market solutions often begin with a collaborative effort and shared expertise from our global partners,” said Kary Schaefer, general manager of marketing and strategy for the Freightliner and Detroit brands within DTNA. “The IAA provides DTNA with the perfect opportunity to share a few of our recent innovations from these collective endeavours for the first time outside of the North American market.”

Introduced in April 2018, the Freightliner EconicSD is one of the most modern and innovative refuse trucks on the market. Based on the Mercedes-Benz Econic, the Freightliner EconicSD is adapted from the European design for the North American refuse industry. The vehicle has a unique low-entry concept for easy entry and exit, and a panoramic windshield for enhanced visibility. The Freightliner EconicSD comes standard with the Detroit Assurance suite of safety systems, including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and active brake assist.

Built for severe duty, the Freightliner 114SD can be fitted out for many different applications, including construction, concrete, fire and rescue, and utility. With optimised mid-chassis packaging and a strategically mounted after-treatment system, the 114SD chassis layout simplifies this. The truck‘s automotive-style interior, expansive windshield and low seating provide a comfortable and productive environment for drivers.
