Easter Weekend 2025 is here! That means only one thing… Wheels at Wanaka!
As I write this this, the team is making its way to converge on Three Parks – Peter “the curator” Mitchell and myself are currently headed down from the North Island; Carl “Capt. K” Kirkbeck is making his way up from Invercargill; and Dave and Anna McCoid are headed down from the top of the south in Gus the Bus – our Iveco van that will be on our stand packed with merch.
We’ll also be joined by Truckin’ Life’s Glen “Yogi” Kendall, who’s making the trip across the ditch especially for the show.
And why wouldn’t you? Every Wheels at Wanaka show has been a spectacular festival of machines, and this is sadly the last one – as we know it, anyway – surely something else will spring up in its place… it has to!
And have you seen the gear headed down splashed on social media this week? Man, there’s some special gear that we just can’t wait to see up close and in action this weekend!
The show opens to the public on Saturday and Sunday, with a full programme of displays on the Highlands parade ground. The Terracat Earthmoving Extravaganza is always a roaring time – literally and figuratively! – and this year the tractor and truck pull will be joined by snowmobile drags! Why the heck not?!
Of course, for those with petrol in their veins, the Wanaka Powersports Dirt Pit will always get the adrenaline pumping.
So, if you’re headed down, swing by the tent and say gidday (just look for Gus!). We hope to see you there!
If you’re not going to Wheels at Wanaka have a wonderful Easter Weekend nonetheless.
Take care out there,
Gavin Myers
