A message from Ed Mansell, Grant Gadsby, and Paul Livsey

Come with us and take a step back in time, to not so long ago, when Mack trucks ruled our highways. From the stock carriers of the South Island to the off-highway loggers of Kaingaroa, Mack trucks were seen hauling the biggest loads in every corner of our country.

Soon these mighty machines will be celebrating 50 years of service to Kiwis. Using our own collections as well as sourcing material from other top truck photographers, we are compiling the finest photographs of the first one thousand Mack trucks assembled at Motor Truck Distributors in Palmerston North for a one-off limited run book to commemorate the occasion,

Follow the ‘lives‘ of these machines from brand new through subsequent owners to where their story ended, if it‘s ended at all. Although some have met their demise, some have been lovingly restored while others continue to earn their keep.

The book will be coffee table styled, hard covered, in full colour, approximately 500 pages in length. We intend to limit the number to one thousand copies, allowing any Mack owners the possibility of purchasing their truck‘s equivalent book number. To date 500 have been spoken for.

Due for release in 2022 to coincide with the 50th anniversary we are now asking for expressions of interest from anyone interested in purchasing this complete pictorial chronology of New Zealand’s first thousand Mack trucks.

Once your order is placed you will be guaranteed to receive a copy should you wish to proceed at the time of publication. No payment is expected at this time, but we may require a deposit be paid early in 2022.

A price indication is minimum $135, but this may change due to the final print number, inflation etc. over which we have no control.

Numbers will be limited so get your name on the list for this once in a lifetime book.

There will be no reprint after the initial production run.
