Fulton Hogan has been awarded the Central Otago highway maintenance contract by the New Zealand Transport Agency.

The contract will be delivered by a consortium led by Fulton Hogan, and includes key physical works subcontractors Base Contracting and Whitestone Contracting, and professional service providers Opus Consultants. The four parties will deliver this work under the identity of ‘Aspiring Highways‘.

Paul Bisset, Fulton Hogan‘s regional manager, said the Aspiring Highways team was excited by the collaborative opportunities presented by the new model and looking forward to the care and maintenance of 537km of highway in the region, from October.

“We have a proud history of work in the region and a strong focus on delivering good quality outcomes for the network and all road users,” said Bisset.

The new Network Outcome Contracts (NOC) are part of a nationwide change in the procurement and execution of state highway maintenance. It is a seven-year contract with the possibility of a two-year extension. 

Prior to this contract Fulton Hogan had spent the last five years maintaining the roads in the region under a traditional maintenance contract.

“For Fulton Hogan this continues our strong connection with the local community and helps us maintain our current presence in the region,” said Bisset.

Fulton Hogan currently has around 230 staff based in Queenstown, Wanaka, Cromwell and Alexandra.
