Introducing Dave McCoid, one owner of NZ Trucking Magazine
Trucks have been the dominating passion in Dave‘s life since day dot, and the road transport industry has dominated his working life. He started as a junior rating clerk at Thames Freightlines Ltd in 1984, and since then has pretty much covered the field, having driven, spent time in operations, project management, and senior management.
After a cumulative period of some 27 years in the industry, Dave took time out to pursue other interests, funding this by – you guessed it – driving trucks. Having contributed to New Zealand Trucking magazine as a freelancer on and off for many years, and latterly editing the magazine, Dave saw the opportunity to be a part-owner as the chance of a lifetime.
“For me it‘s always about the machines and the people who drive and operate them; I simply love trucks. Nothing gives me more enjoyment than jumping into the cab and taking a load somewhere for someone. It‘s just something you‘re born with.
“Having the chance to part-own the magazine that was the first to give us all the ability to communicate our trucking identity to the rest of the world is a privilege beyond words, and all three of us are extremely humbled to be afforded that opportunity.
“But it‘s not just about us. We go forward with an amazing team of passionate people. Their enthusiasm and belief in this publication is just so inspiring.”
