Volvo has invested A$27m upgrading their Australian Mack and Volvo truck assembly plant recently and the new A$30m headquarters will be built near the plant.

The investment is a sign of the powerhouse international truck manufacturer‘s confidence in the future of the Australasian market. They have an increasingly strong foothold in the New Zealand premium truck market, with significant fleet sales to the likes of Fonterra, Regal Haulage and HWR Group. 

In Australia they employ 1350 people and in 2015 had 26.2% of the heavy-duty truck market in 2015, a figure they say is greater than any of their competitors.

“Volvo has been building trucks in Brisbane for more than 40 years and has very bright future here,” Lundstedt said. “Wacol is the largest truck assembly plant in Australia and its dedicated workforce has enabled Volvo Group Australia to become the largest truck builder in the country.”
