CoreLogic signs major road data agreement with NZTA

CoreLogic NZ has announced a multi-year agreement with the NZ Transport Agency that will lead to significant efficiency gains for New Zealand‘s roading infrastructure and its governing bodies.

CoreLogic Road Data will be licensed to NZTA, enabling those in the transport sector to work from a common and authoritative centreline representation. Beneficiaries of the agreement extend beyond the NZTA to also include the Ministry of Transport, Road Controlling Authorities, contractors working for those parties, and the public.

With expansive responsibilities that include covering the performance and safety of our highways, ensuring an efficient network, planning and forecasting for its growth plus allocation of funding, NZTA needed a robust dataset to support their decision making on the maintenance and investment in New Zealand‘s roading infrastructure.

CoreLogic Road Data is New Zealand‘s most complete and current ‘real world‘ dataset, relied upon by commercial and government clients for its detailed roading intelligence in areas such as traffic flows, structures, intersections, turn restrictions and routes. Updated daily (alongside CoreLogic national property and address information), it also includes new roads captured directly from subdivision plans.

As part of this programme of work, CoreLogic is working closely with RAMM Software Ltd, Australasia‘s premier road asset management software company, and creators of the RAMM (Road Assessment and Maintenance Management) software. RAMM is used extensively by all of New Zealand‘s RCAs. This project has resulted in a new dataset that combines the road location with road condition.

RAMM Software general manager Graeme Norman says the partnership will enable RCAs to easily integrate their local road network with New Zealand‘s State Highway network at no additional cost.

Matt Lythe, head of geospatial solutions at CoreLogic, says they are committed to delivering the most advanced data technology and analytics for New Zealand‘s businesses.

“We‘re thrilled to be partnering with RAMM Software to support NZTA in achieving their objectives over the years to come.”

For the benefit of all New Zealanders, this dataset will be made available through the NZTA open data platform (https://opendata-nzta.opendata.arcgis.com) for a wide range of non-commercial purposes.
