Last year, New Zealand Trucking contributor Alison Verran visited some far-flung countries with her husband, Mike. Naturally, they took the opportunity to soak up some of the trucking culture. Here are some of the more interesting trucks they discovered in Europe and the UK.

This XF 480 DAF belonging to Transcargo Logistics, based in Poland, was parked at motorway services heading to Zurich from Germany. Note the single-axle trailer.

Manners Transport, based in Alnwick, Northumberland, UK, specialises in the recovery and recycling of large agricultural machinery, as well as general heavy haulage work. Here, one of its Volvo FH low loaders heads down the A35 between Puddletown and Bere Regis in Dorset.

Rupert Schuierer Spedition, based in Walderbach, Germany, carts containers and swap bodies. Many of its trucks have amazing custom paint jobs, like this MAN TG3 parked up at a large roadside service area near Cologne, Germany.

This eye-catching Renault T High belonging to TMR Spedition & Logistik, based in Erkelenz, Germany, was travelling on the A61, near Cologne, Germany.

An IVECO S-Way 490 belonging to Kolbe Spedition, part of Kolbe Logistik, based in Thannhausen, Germany.

Marshalls, based in Elland, Yorkshire, UK, originated in the 1890s. It produces and delivers landscaping, building and roofing products. This R460 Scania was spotted near Trafalgar Square, London.

Brakes, based in Ashford, Kent, is a wholesale food supplier employing over 6500 staff. Here is one of its Mercedes-Benz Actros 1824 on the road near Trafalgar Square, London. (Note the bright yellow mirrors, commonly seen in UK and Europe.

Maloja Garage Giovanoli AG is a garage and transport company in Maloja, Switzerland, that provides breakdown, transport and winter services. This MAN TGS was spotted driving near the well-known ski resort of St Moritz in Switzerland.

Vogel Transport, based in Vorarlberg, Austria, operates 185 vehicles, including 40 new Scanias acquired in 2021. Here’s one on the road near Prutz, Austria.
