International Trucks give Tickford Racing a ride

Two new International ProStar prime movers have joined the Tickford Racing Supercars team as official transporters

Less than a year after returning to the Australian transportation industry, International Trucks has joined forces with Tickford Racing, another returning name, to serve as the team‘s official transport provider from 2018. As part of the new, three-year partnership, Tickford Racing has taken delivery of two International ProStar cabs, which will guide the Campbellfield-based programme to Supercars race rounds across Australia.

“We‘re excited to partner with International and bring them aboard the team,” says Tickford managing director Rod Nash. “There is a freshness about them that‘s very appealing, and they have been very keen to work with us. We are very much looking forward to having their ProStar vehicles leading us from race-to-race this season and beyond.

“What Iveco is doing with International is similar to what we have been doing with Tickford and now Tickford Racing, in bringing a beloved brand back into the Australian market,” Nash continued. “That common mentality should make it a very positive partnership for both parties.”

“Iveco Australia is thrilled to be partnering with Tickford Racing in the Supercars arena over the next three years as the team‘s official race car transporter,” says Iveco Australia managing director, Michael Jonson. “As the distributor of the International Truck brand in Australia, we see many benefits in aligning ourselves with a high profile and professional racing outfit such as Tickford.

“Supercars is the dominant form of motorsport in Australia and the two International ProStar trucks will be highly visible around the racetracks of Australia. We look forward to an exciting relationship with Tickford Racing.”

Iveco Australia marketing manager Darren Swenson added to Jonson and Nash, noting the highly-touted driver lineup Tickford Racing has assembled for 2018 as an opportunity to expose his brand to Australia‘s biggest and youngest fans.

“There are some very strong synergies between the Tickford Racing and International brands,” says Iveco Australia marketing manager Darren Swenson. “International was relaunched into the Australian market in 2017 after a several year hiatus. Similarly, Tickford was once a household name in motorsports – both were much loved and now both brands are back and ready to perform.

“Our partnership with Tickford Racing will go a long way to rekindling Australia‘s interest and passion in International Trucks and in particular the new ProStar range. And as they‘ll be transporting cars driven by Chaz, Cam, Frosty and Richie, I‘m sure we‘ll also be attracting a younger generation of followers.”

Tickford Racing will utilise one of its new ProStar cabs when Richie Stanaway and Super2 driver Thomas Randle head to a rookie/Super2 test on Wednesday, February 7 at Winton Motor Raceway. Both International ProStar vehicles will then make their first journey together in mid-February as the four-car Supercars team heads to Sydney Motorsports Park for the series‘ open test on Friday, February 16.
