Buckie Murray of JD Transport has been driving trucks since he was 18 years old. He started driving for his father, who always drove and owned trucks, 26 years ago. Nine years ago he purchased his first truck, and since then he‘s gone on to purchase four more. Carting for Foodstuffs on highway from Hamilton and locally around the Auckland area, he‘s a big fan of the European trucks for their safety and comfort. Last month he purchased his first MercedesBenz Actros, and what a truck it is!

The newest member to the JD Transport family is a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2653LS, 6×4, tractor unit with a 2.3m wide ClassicSpace sleeper cab. Towing a 4-axle semi curtain-sider. “It‘s better than anything I‘ve owned before, it‘s beautiful”, says Buckie proudly. “It‘s been a bit different getting used to all the safety features, lots of bells and whistles, but everything is designed so well within arms reach”, he says, “it just feels so safe and comfortable.” “It‘s early days but so far we are getting 2.1 – 2.3km to the litre of fuel which we are very happy with. It is great to drive on highway and maneuver around town,” he adds. The truck has two drivers and is on the road five days a week. “My drivers have never been so excited to come to work”, says Buckie.

Painted bright yellow, in the Pak‘n‘Save colours, the Actros is going to turn heads on the highway! “I plan to continue growing and replacing my fleet over time,” says Buckie. “It‘s going to be hard to buy anything else now”, he says. Buckie plans to add a Mercedes-Benz Actros 8-wheeler to his fleet in the next year or so.

“I‘ve really enjoyed the service of Damon Smith and the team at Trucks & Trailers and look forward to an on-going relationship with them,” says Buckie. Trucks & Trailers are specialists in the sales, servicing, and parts supply of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
