National Road Carriers plugs income insurance gap for members

National Road Carriers is introducing new Lifestyle Interruption Insurance cover exclusively to its members to address the total lack of affordable income protection insurance currently available in the road transport industry.

With the help of Super Advice, Australasia‘s leading employee benefits advisory group, NRC has developed this bespoke insurance product that is funded by employers to benefit their employees.

“Income protection insurance is either unavailable to drivers, or it‘s too expensive at around $100 a week,” said Jeremy Hoskin, of Super Advice.

Lifestyle Interruption Cover is available for all staff of NRC members at a surprisingly reasonable rate, per employee.

“This is a great product for our member businesses to build into their driver attraction and retention strategies,” said David Aitken, NRC CEO.

Lifestyle Interruption Cover will make a pay out of up to $48,000 to employees or their next of kin on 66 different events, including loss of life and major medical events that could lead to long periods away from work. Back injuries are the most common injury suffered by truckies, most of whom will have some interruption to their job over 40 years or more in the work place.

There are no medical tests or lengthy forms to fill out to gain Lifestyle Interruption Cover. Employers simply submit a list of their staff names when joining the scheme.

Super Advice has worked with NRC for the past four years, offering group and individual insurance, Australian Super Transfers, KiwiSaver advice, financial advice and income products.
