Peter Keys – South Auckland boy makes good

2 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineJanuary 29, 2018

Peter Keys may describe himself as a “South Auckland boy”, but he‘s a Mt Maunganui convert now, having lived there for the past two years.

Keys, a sales consultant for Truck Works NZ Ltd, is a former truck driver who obtained his heavy trade licences in the NZ Army in an RL Bedford. His grandfather, William (Bill) Hall, had trucking in his blood, and was a self-employed contractor who worked on the Roxburgh Dam after returning from WWII.

“Like my grandfather, I believe in looking after people and doing right by them in all areas of life. His handshake was as good as his word, and I like that approach in life.”

Keys also had a successful sales career in capital equipment, machinery and engineering products and previously sold Iveco trucks.

“You need determination and tenacity along the way, and helping people have their needs met is one thing I do enjoy. I will be working hard in creating long-term relationships with business owners who need trucks, based on the principles of ‘value without compromise‘.”

Keys says he is fully committed to seeing extensive growth of both the Sinotruk and Peterbilt brands throughout the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Coromandel, Taupo and Gisborne regions.

“We have had some great success so far in a variety of trucking applications, with new Sinotruk owners and drivers enjoying the performance and comfort of hardworking trucks built with many features at very competitive prices.

“I have a passion for the industry, and see exciting roads ahead. I am looking forward to seeing many drivers behind the wheel of a Sinotruk.”
