The Safety MAN was awarded runner-up at the prestigious 3M Traffic Safety Innovation Awards. The award was in recognition of the award-winning project to improve road safety.

NZ Trucking Association CEO David Boyce accepted the award on behalf of the team on Tuesday at the Transportation Group NZ conference in Wellington.

“It‘s a huge honour and a great reward to get recognised by another industry group for all the great work that the Safety MAN is doing in the communities around New Zealand,” said Boyce.

The initiative is just getting better and better as the truck moves around New Zealand. It has such a presence when it rolls into town. More than 18,000 people have participated in the programmes, and the goal is to reach more than 70,000.

“We can‘t do it without the industry getting more involved. To date the programme‘s sponsors have made it all possible but we need the wider industry to get behind it. Every single transport company out there should be supporting the initiative,” said Boyce.
