The NZ Transport Agency advises that chipseal resurfacing will take place on State Highway 1 East Taupo Arterial next week.

On Thursday 3 December resurfacing works will take place on the full length of the road between the SH1/State Highway 5 (Napier-Taupo) intersection and the SH1/Lake Terrace/Anzac Memorial Drive intersection.

Traffic management with a temporary speed limit of 30kph will be in place between 9am and 3pm to protect road users, their vehicles and road workers. Once the new chipseal has been laid, a temporary speed limit of 50kph will apply until the new surface has settled and the lines have been repainted.

Southbound traffic will remain on SH1 East Taupo Arterial. Northbound traffic will be detoured via Lake Terrace, Tongariro Street and Wairakei Drive, rejoining State Highway 1 at the Wairakei Roundabout.

Traffic bound for Napier can use Lake Terrace and Napier Road.  Drivers are reminded to stop at the Napier Road/Kiddle Drive/Arrowsmith avenue intersection.
