SH25 Kuaotunu update

The NZ Transport Agency opened SH25 Kuaotunu Hill to one lane of traffic with Stop/Go traffic management from 5.30pm Thursday.

NZ Transport Agency Waikato system manager Karen Boyt said contractors had done a great job to be able to get one lane open on SH25 Kuaotunu Hill so quickly, given the amount of material that came down in the slip.

“We are also operating SH25 Kuaotunu River Bridge at one lane under Stop/Go traffic management while it is being assessed following this week‘s heavy rain,” says Boyt.

“We expect to have the results of what repairs the bridge will need over the coming days and will keep the community informed of this.”

Heavy vehicles are asked to avoid SH25 in the Kuaotunu area if possible and are advised that there are no turnaround areas at the Kuaotunu River Bridge or the slip site further south.

“We would like to thank Kuaotunu residents for their patience and reassure them we are working to full clear the slip and fully reopen the bridge as quickly as possible,” Boyt said.
