On 16 October 2019 in Lyon, 25 drivers from the same number of countries competed at the fifth international final of the Optifuel Challenge, an eco-driving competition organised by Renault Trucks. Slovakian driver Frantisek Oravec won the prize for top eco-driver, ahead of Polish driver Piotr Krahel, from Concept Cargo Logistics, and French driver Pascal Bosser from Transports Rollin.

The competition was split into two parts: the finalists first answered a theoretical questionnaire that evaluated their eco-driving knowledge, for 10% of the final score. They then took the wheel of a 2019 Renault Trucks T High 480 for an open-road driving test lasting around 40 minutes.

Frantisek Oravec, driver and manager of the family business Frantisek Oravec, was named the 2019 top eco-driver, winning a 2019 Renault Trucks T High 480 for his company, together with a €6000 voucher for the outlet of his choice.

Polish driver Piotr Krahel, from Concept Cargo Logistics, clinched second place and a €3000 voucher for the outlet of his choice.

Third place went to French driver Pascal Bosser from Transports Rollin, who won a voucher for €1500 for the outlet of his choice.

The prize for the ‘fun‘ challenge was awarded to Bulgarian driver Plamen Ivanov from Sunny Co Ltd.

Last but not least, a special ‘fair play‘ prize was awarded to Algerian driver Nabil Bedreddine from TerrenoTrans for his good humour and enthusiasm throughout the competition.
